Are you an experienced live act that performs regularly?

Beaufort Records is looking for artists to record albums. Any style - Rock, Pop, Folk, Jazz or Classical.

This is not a big time deal unfortunately as there is only a limited volume of sales that can be obtained for an unknown act by a small independent company. There may however be the prospect of licensing the record to a major record company later.

The bulk of sales will initially have to be made by yourselves and you will get stock to sell at your gigs (and elsewhere) at a preferential rate. It should be possible even with modest sales to earn substantial sums every night. This could change the economics of performing considerably allowing you to gig more and play venues that would otherwise not be possible.

Recording and production will be done by Malcolm Dunn (see here for details) an experienced and qualified professional. The recording could take place at a live venue or in the studio. The CD will look, sound and smell like a real record and you will have the kudos of having a real record deal. Beaufort records is a registered limited company so you can check the audited accounts at companies house to make sure your royalties are accurate.

The contract will be non exclusive - you can record anything else you like. Your songs will remain 100% yours. You will be responsible for PRS registration and copyright issues but you keep all your rights.

The only provisos are:

That the material recorded is mostly original or out of copyright. This is because it is not usually economic to pay PRS fees for cover songs on this kind of release. Covers may be included but your royalties will be substantially reduced.

You agree to sell a minimum amount of 100 CDs

You will not get an advance.

Costings (per CD)

Here is an idea of the amount of money you can make.
(Royalties are calculated on a 50/50 split of the wholesale price)

The normal selling price to the public will be £9.99 - you may sell for less (or more). Therefore it is possible to make around £7 per disc. Sales of 10 to 20 per gig are easily obtained making you something like £70 to £140 a night!

In order to protect against band splits and other unforeseen circumstances you must agree to take a minimum amount of 100 CDs to sell. These must be paid for on reciept. These will be charged at your special supply price (£2.90)
No fees or other charges will be made - you just pay for the CDs that you sell.
